peek behind the scenes

On a guided tour, you will see the everyday life of the Opera House and learn how much professional skills are required to create a succesfull performance.

The tours are conducted in Finnish and last approximately an hour. Please note that the tours on 21 Jan and 6 May are conducted in English. The tour on 25 Feb is conducted in Swedish. The tour starts from the ticket sales lobby (Alfons lobby) on the Töölönlahti entrance side.

Tickets for the guided tours cost 8/16 euros. The discounted ticket is for children and youth aged 20 and under, students, pensioners, and military or non-military service members. Tickets can be purchased from the Opera and Ballet online store, customer service point, and service point of Stockmann Helsinki City Center department store. Please note that the guided tour tickets can only be paid on site during the customer service point’s opening hours.

Please ensure that you are present at the start of the guided tour. Latecomers will not be admitted to the tour.

Enjoy refreshments after the tour

You can order refreshments from the Opera Restaurant to enjoy after your guided tour. Place your order easily in advance in our online shop. Please note that refreshments cannot be ordered to the January 2026 tours (14 January and 21 January).

If you prefer not to order online in advance, you can purchase treats on site at the Bar & Café Carmen service counter in the Main Foyer. The service counter will not be open during the January tours. Read more about the services of the Opera Restaurant.

guided tours for groups

Would you like to book a guided tour for a group?

A guided tour for a group can be booked on days other than those marked on the calendar below. Tours can be arranged from Monday to Friday in the morning or between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.  Please note that in spring 2026, we do not organize tours due to the premieres of the Main Stage in weeks 5, 13, 17 and 20. Tours are not organized from June to August.

The 1-hour tour costs 139 euro on weekdays for groups of up to 20 people. The tour costs 99 euro for student groups and 78 euro for schoolchildren.

We also offer guided tours for groups in other languages by agreement.
