Don Quixote
Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes’ two-part novel Don Quixote has fascinated choreographers since the eighteenth century, inspiring one of the landmark works of the classical ballet repertoire.
The ballet focuses on an episode from the novel about the enchanting Kitri and her impoverished lover Basilio. With the help of Don Quixote, the Knight of the Sorrowful Countenance, and his squire Sancho Panza, the couple overcome the obstacles to their marriage. Patrice Bart’s choreography continues to captivate audiences at the Finnish National Ballet with its vivid visual world, virtuosic dance and fun, fast-paced storytelling.
The performance was recorded at the Finnish National Ballet on 11 March 2026.
