The impressive creative team behind the current production includes director Pierre Audi and sculptor Anish Kapoor, who has designed the sets. synopsis
Through political intrigue, the victorious corsair Simon Boccanegra is elected doge of the city-state of Genoa, despite opposition from his rival, Jacopo Fiesco. The two men share a connection to Maria, Fiesco’s daughter and Boccanegra’s lover who died a long time ago. The daughter she gave Boccanegra, Amelia, has since vanished without a trace.
Twenty-five years later, Amelia resurfaces in Genoa and becomes embroiled in a power struggle that ultimately costs Boccanegra his life.
