Flea market, performances, and more
Open House at Night of the Arts at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet has a full and varied program for opera and ballet lovers, both inside and outside the Opera House.
In addition to the beloved flea market of the costume department, the programme offers a wide range of things to see and experience for both children and adults alike. Peek behind the scenes on a guided tour, dance, craft, sing opera hits, or even try out a virtual stage tool. As twilight descends, a selection of teasers from the upcoming season’s productions will also be seen on the open air stage. There will be special Night of the Arts ticket offers, too.

A free ticket is required for the following events
Mini Opera: The Barber of Seville
Duration: 30 minutes, Almi Hall
A lively and joyful version of Rossini’s classic opera, suitable for all ages from pre-schoolers upwards. The Mini Opera is performed in Finnish. Tickets are given out in advance online the day before. Any remaining tickets will be allocated on the day, just before each performance. Tickets are checked at the Almi Hall entrance.

4:15 p.m. (please arrive by 4 p.m.)
5:45 p.m. (please arrive by 5:30 p.m.)
7:15 p.m. (please arrive by 7 p.m.)
Guided tours
Duration: 60 minutes, Opera House
Look behind the scenes of the Opera House on a guided tour. Tickets are distributed at the ticket point in Aino Lobby on the day of the event, 30 minutes before each tour begins. See the map for the location of the ticket point. Each tour group is limited to 20
participants. Maximum 2 tickets per person.
Tour schedule:
4:30 p.m. 2 Finnish language groups, tickets from 4 p.m.
6 p.m. 2 groups, one in Finnish and one in Swedish, tickets from 5:30 p.m.
7:30 p.m. 2 groups, one in Finnish and one in English, tickets from 7 p.m.

Craft workshop
Almi Hall Foyer, 4 to 8 p.m.
A drop-in craft workshop for children, inspired by the Magic Moment performance. Make your own magic wand!
Children’s ballet class
Almi Hall Foyer, 5 to 5:25 p.m. and 6:30 to 6:55 p.m.
Children’s own ballet class to explore the steps and skills of ballet. No prior experience needed!
Props station: step into the world of illusion
Almi Hall Foyer, 4 to 8 p.m.
Discover props: the different items used on stage in Opera and Ballet productions.
Costume fitting and photo wall
Balcony Foyer, 4 to 7 p.m.
Try on costumes from the Opera and Ballet wardrobe and snap a happy selfie as a souvenir.
Virtual Stage
Main Foyer, 4 to 9 p.m.
Try out our Virtual Stage tool and step onto a digital stage.
Handel hits – live with FiBO!
Main Foyer, 4:15 to 4:45 p.m., 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. and 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.
Enjoy baroque music performed by the musicians of Finnish Baroque Orchestra FiBO.
Finnish National Ballet’s dance challenge
Main Foyer, 4:45, 6, 7 and 8 p.m.
Master a dance challenge choreographed by Reija Wäre, led by the vocational students of the Ballet School.
Javier’s ballet class
Outdoor stage (Mannerheimintie side), 5 to 5:45 p.m.
Join a ballet class with Javier Torres, Artistic Director of the Finnish National Ballet. No prior experience needed! Trainers recommended.
Flea market
Costume storage, from 5 p.m. (open until 8 p.m or until sold out)
Come and find unique treasures at the flea market of the Finnish National Opera and
Ballet costume department. Entrance on the Amphitheatre side.
Make-up demonstration
Aino Lobby, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Watch how professionals apply stage make-up and prepare wigs for performers.
OAF
Main Foyer, 4 to 8 p.m.
Outsider Art Festival OAF invites everyone to create HOPE. What gives you hope? Look inside and out! Programme provided by OAF.
OAF x Amphitheatre
Amphitheatre, 6 to 8 p.m.
Programme includes an outsider art tour around Töölönlahti Bay, a drum tribute by park drummer Jarmo, and Dash Che / Pekka Suomalainen – An Ordinary Finnish Man. Programme provided by OAF.
Magic Moment
Outdoor stage (Mannerheimintie side), 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 to 7:45 p.m.
Discover the magic of dance with Cinderella! Magic Moment is an interactive performance based on the beloved story of Cinderella.
Sing-along
Main Foyer, 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. and 8:30 to 9 p.m.
Sing the greatest hits from the world of opera with the singers of the Finnish National Opera.
Night of the Arts at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet
Outdoor stage (Mannerheimintie side), 10 to 11 p.m.
The Night of the Arts culminates in a selection of highlights from the season’s programme. Hosted by the Artistic Directors of the Opera and Ballet, Javier Torres and Thomas de Mallet Burgess.
