Opera that’s young at heart

Every year, In the Limelight music theatre group for 12–16-year-olds has free reign to create and produce a music theatre performance after their own heart, in co-operation with seasoned professionals. This season, the group will put their creativity to work on the themes of the ballet Romeo and Juliet.

In spring 2021, the maritime-themed opera Peter Grimes prompted young people to contemplate friendship and its similarity to the sea and its waves. The 14-minute performance was partly rehearsed and created remotely and recorded at the Opera House amphitheatre and the Cultural House Martinus.
