Juho Gröndahl

introduction

Juho Gröndahl ia a playwright, dramaturge, and translator. They graduated from the University of the Arts Helsinki Theatre Academy in 2015. Gröndahl’s previous work includes various projects ranging from big stage musical theatre to community theatre and audioplays.

“In my art, I am constantly interested in gender, mythology, work and the human mind. I regard myself as an intertextual writer and often use different kinds of materials as a basis for my own work. In addition to prose and poems I have used interviews, folklore, scientific research and autofictional material in my plays.”

Gröndahl’s latest works include Kummitusjuttuja Tampereelta (Tampereen Työväen Teatteri 2024), Pyöreän pöydän ritarit (Tampereen Työväen Teatteri 2023) and the audioplay Miesvihaaja (Yleisradio 2022). As a translator they recently worked on a new Finnish translation of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America (Finnish National Theatre 2024).
