How is the sound of a chorus created?
The sound of the chorus is made up of different voice types, each playing a vital role. The bass forms the foundation, the alto adds warmth and colour, while the tenor and soprano carry the melodies.
When the Chorus of the Finnish National Opera begins to sing, the power of the music is almost tangible. In this video, our opera singers explain the roles of their voice types and share what makes our chorus unique. You’ll also hear how the voices come together, with goosebumps guaranteed!
The Chorus of the Finnish National Opera is Finland’s only full-time professional opera chorus. In 2025, we celebrate our 80th anniversary.
