PianoEspoo: Bruce Liu
Recital with the winner of the Chopin Competition
Bruce Liu’s star is rising at a tremendous speed. In spring 2021, he joined the likes of Martha Argerich and Krystian Zimerman in winning the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. This win was followed closely by a record deal with Deutsche Grammophon and solo performances with world-leading orchestras.
The lyrical nature and intelligence of Liu’s playing already stood out in his competition performances. Throughout his subsequent international career, he has continued to display increasingly fascinating characteristics. Now, audiences have an excellent opportunity to experience his playing on a broader scale as he makes his debut at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet, performing a recital programme at Almi Hall.
The concert is part of the PianoEspoo festival.
concert in the almi hall foyer
Before the recital by Bruce Liu in the Almi Hall foyer, audiences can get in the mood in the company of Fanny Hensel and her monumental cycle Das Jahr performed by students at the Sibelius Academy. Composed partly during Hensel’s long stay in Italy, it presents a breath-taking cross section of bourgeois life in the 1840s.
