Pulse: en mode marron – the rhythm of the work
en mode marron is built on repetition, cyclical structure and constantly evolving movement, drawing its energy from live music performed onstage. Choreographer Bintou Dembélé and 1st soloist dancer Atte Kilpinen discuss the rehearsal process as hip hop culture meets the dancers of the Finnish National Ballet and the classical tradition. Dembélé sees en mode marron not as choreography but as a ritual, a living, shared experience.
en mode marron is one of three new contemporary dance works featured in Pulse.
