A Joyful Journey into the World of Jazz

The pioneering Belgian ensemble Zonzo Compagnie delights with a new production for the whole family, centered on jazz legend Thelonious Monk. A maverick genius based in New York, Monk composed music filled with unexpected harmonies and thrilling rhythms.

Winner of the YAMaward for the best performance for young audiences, the production features the adventurous jazz trio De Beren Gieren, who guide the audience into Monk’s unique world through music and theatre. Nele Fack’s impressive video scenography sweeps viewers into the experimental life of the jazz hero, revealing ever-new facets of this fascinating musician. Benjamin Vandewalle’s lively direction draws both the musicians and the audience into a joyful choreography.

So, hop on the bebop train and dive into the depths of jazz with all your senses! Wherever this musical journey takes you, it is guaranteed to be a wild ride.

Stage

This performance is in Almi Hall

The Almi Hall stage is the smaller stage of the Opera House. Entrance to Almi Hall is located on the Töölönlahti bay side.

The seating in Almi Hall has a slight incline in rows 1–7, with a steeper incline starting from row 8. Additional rows A–E are on a flat floor but are not used for all performances.

Please note that the Almi Hall stage is about one meter high. Therefore, we do not recommend purchasing tickets for the front rows if you are coming to the performance with, for example, small children.
