Tickets for children
For fire safety reasons, a child cannot sit on the lap of an adult. The Opera and Ballet youth discount for attendees under 20 years old is 40% off the price of a regular ticket.
The best viewing experience for children
The Main Stage of the Opera House is large, and the balconies are surprisingly far from the stage. The best viewing experience for children is in the stalls and in the 1st balcony. Our customer service will be happy to help you find the best seats for your group.
Booster cushions
If you need a booster cushion for a small child, ask the front-of-house staff.
Age recommendations
We always give age recommendations for productions intended for the whole family, assessing the age limit according to our best knowledge and experience. However, every child is different. For more details on the grounds for our age recommendations and the content of particular performances, please ask the Customer Service. Please note that Main Stage performances are not suitable for children under 5 years of age.
Everyone above the age of 5 is welcome to Main Stage performances
Main Stage performances are not suitable for children under 5 years of age. The duration of the performances, the bright lights and the powerful sounds often prove to be too much for babies and toddlers. Because of this, under-5s are not admitted to our Main Stage performances.
But don’t get us wrong – we’re delighted for the youngest family members to visit the Opera House, too. Babies are welcome to our First Taste of Opera and Ballet workshops and toddlers to our Mini Operas. Preschoolers will love the Opera and Ballet in Action workshops.
