“Rootering has some sex and violence in his production, but it is nevertheless a clean and stylish modernised opera production.”

Synopsis

A count has put a curse on court jester Rigoletto who has mocked him after his daughter was seduced by a duke. Soon the jester’s own daughter falls prey to the very same lecherous duke, and Rigoletto sets his heart on revenge. But the curse adds a fatal twist, and the distraught father loses everything.
