The spring gala in May is the culmination of another year of hard work for the pupils and vocational students of the Ballet School of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet. In these exceptional circumstances, the 2021 spring gala will only be seen once on the Main Stage of the Opera House.
In the coming spring, the programme will feature a combination of classical ballet and contemporary dance. Reija Wäre has created a new contemporary dance choreography for the Ballet School, while Dinna Bjørn’s choreography of Act 3 of August Bournonville’s ballet Napoli will represent classical ballet. A ballet class onstage will showcase the development of the dancers, from the very youngest pupils to vocational students about to graduate.
