Waltteri Torikka and other young stars on stage

Così fan tutte, Mozart’s hilarious comedy of relationships, returns to the repertoire at the Finnish National Opera after a long pause in spring 2018. The cast will feature dazzling young Finnish stars: Marjukka Tepponen, Erica Back, Suvi Väyrynen, Jussi Myllys, Waltteri Torikka and Nicholas Söderlund.

Are all women deceivers? A bet is made to settle the matter, setting in motion a whirlwind of human relationships propelled by Mozart’s sparkling music.

Recommended for children over the age of 9.

Please note that you can still buy tickets through the website for performances in spring 2018, but not for season 2018-2019.

“Guy Joosten’s production turns the situation on its head, and the viewer is transfixed in realising that instead of looking at a cheap farce seen many times over, we are witnessing a grim truth about human nature, irrespective of gender.”

Cosi fan Tutte

This cheerful, inventive and compellingly melodic opera is a good choice for first-time operagoers.

Don Alfonso claims that all women are deceivers, but Guglielmo and Ferrando are convinced of their fiancées faithfulness. Guglielmo and Ferrando demand evicende for Don Alfonso’s scepticism. They propose demonstrating who is right by means of a wager. Guglielmo and Ferrando pretend they have been called to arms and they return disguised as foreigners to court their ladies. If the ladies remain constant and faithful, the young men win; if they succumb, the experienced Don Alfonso will be proven right.
