Ämpärimies (Bucket Man) is a humorous new miniature ballet where children aged 6 to 9 can see what a ballet dancer’s working day is like.
The performance is about a ballet company preparing to perform a new full-length ballet. The company rehearses in an old theatre building that is being renovated. A strange sequence of events begins to unfold when Reijo the builder finds an old zinc bucket amidst the renovation.
Reijo and the bucket become intimately acquainted with the work of ballet dancers – and with each other. The ballet master is annoyed with the builder’s entanglement with the bucket, as he is anxious to bring a Kalevala-themed work to the stage. The bucket, always in the wrong place at the wrong time, proves to be a strange and unexpectedly useful thing.
