Mezzosoprano Lilli Paasikivi was engaged as a soloist at the Finnish National Opera from 1998 to 2013. She took up the post of Artistic Director of the FNO as of 1 August 2013. In the course of her career, she has appeared at the Hamburg State Opera, at the Frankfurt Opera, at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris, in Salzburg, in Aix-en-Provence, at the Royal Opera in Stockholm and at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. Her opera repertoire includes Eboli in Don Carlos (Verdi), Amneris in Aida (Verdi), Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier (Strauss), Fricka in Die Walküre (Wagner), the title role in Carmen (Bizet), Kundry in Parsifal (Wagner), Marja in Juha (Merikanto) and Marina Mnishek in Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky). She has also appeared with many distinguished orchestras, such as the London Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, Vienna, Hamburg and Munich Philharmonic. She has numerous recordings to her credit, and she is the artistic director of the concert series at the Pyhäniemi arts festival.
