The year 2017 marks the centenary of Finland’s independence. The Finnish National Opera and Ballet will be celebrating the year with a new ballet extravaganza, which is also the farewell production of Kenneth Greve, whose appointment as Artistic Director of the FNB expires in 2018.
Salonen will assume a diverse and comprehensive role as a conductor, composer, artistic advisor and ambassador.
The Finnish National Opera and Ballet season 2016-2017 has been published. The Ring cycle will be staged in a new production at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki between 2019 and 2021. The production will be conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen.
The Finnish Figure Skating Association and the Finnish National Opera and Ballet will work together at the 2017 World Figure Skating Championships. Artistic Director of the Ballet Kenneth Greve will choreograph the opening ceremony and serve as one of the Patrons of the competition.
