Kenneth Greve will be ending his ten-year tenure as Artistic Director of the FNB in spring 2018. A gala performance will be held as a tribute to his time here, reliving some of the most memorable moments. The entire FNB will be contributing to the gala, and of course Kenneth himself! This unique and emotionally charged gala performance that is not to be missed.
Ten years as director
Kenneth Greve brought many things to the FNB during his tenure: he set up a youth group for freshly graduated dancers, initiated the FNB’s annual summer tours around Finland and the ‘Ballet comes to Town’ events, where dance school pupils have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with members of the FNB. The ‘Ballet energy for boys’ project has successfully encouraged boys to take up ballet as a hobby, and motion in general has been promoted at schools through the ‘Muuv’ project.
Greve’s time at the FNB has included works by Finnish and international top choreographers, not forgetting his own contributions: Swan Lake, The Snow Queen and The Little Mermaid have become perennial favourites. Away from home, the FNB has performed at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, at the Royal Opera House in Copenhagen and at the Bunkamura Theatre in Tokyo. Greve also invited many world stars to the FNB, such as Svetlana Zakharova, Friedemann Vogel and Tamara Rojo.
“I will leave the FNB with contentment but of course with a heavy heart. It has been a wonderful ten years. Now it is time for my family to decide where we will go next, and we will be relocating in my wife’s home country France.”
