Getting more from a performance
Introductions, given before performances, explore the world around the work being performed. You will watch the performance with new eyes once you have been given background information and interesting facts about the origins of the work, about the characters and about the story.
Introductions to works are usually accompanied by a cup of coffee or a glass of sparkling wine and are held in the foyer of Almi Hall by Dramaturge Juhani Koivisto for operas and Heidi Almi for ballets. The introductions are performed in Finnish.
The introductions last about 25 minutes. Admission is free. More information here.
See you after the show
A few times each season, we arrange a Meet the Artists event where audience members can meet opera and ballet performers immediately after a performance. They are informal occasions, and there are no stupid questions; singers, dancers and orchestra members are happy to answer any questions you might have about the evening’s performance, about putting the production together or about their jobs in general. Taking photos and asking for autographs is naturally also possible.
